Chablis 2019: Best-value wines under £20
Domaine des Malandes, Chablis, 1er Cru Vau de Vey, 2019
Tasting Score: 93
"Vau de Vey is perhaps not top of most consumer lists when asked for the key Premier Cru sites, yet it is widely regarded as having outstanding potential. With steep-sided valleys and protection from all but the morning sun, it's a Premier Cru with loads of fresh, mineral, bright citrus characters. Domaine des Malandes has succeeded in capturing the essence of Vau de Vey. This is already appealing but will age very well for at least five years (and beyond)." Tasting Note

TOP VALUE - Domaine des Malandes Envers de Valmur, Chablis
Tasting Score: 94
"Domaine des Malandes is a 29ha estate. The Envers de Valmur is an intriguing ‘insider’s’ choice from vineyards abutting grand cru Vaudésir. Classic in colour, aroma and on the palate, this is a fine Chablis with great potential for further aging. Bright, focused and mineral on the palate, there is a lovely balance between freshness, bright acidity and ripe fruit flavours. Long and precise on the finish." Tasting Note
