The vinification of The Federalist 1776 Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi involves aging the wine for about 14-15 months in French oak barrels, with some vintages using 35% new oak. This process creates a bold, full-bodied wine with firm tannins and flavors of dark fruit, cassis, and notes of chocolate, spice, and vanilla from the oak.
