2021 Rutherford Hill Merlot

Deep crimson, with alluring ground clove notes, interwoven with dark chocolate and black cherry liqueur. On the palate it is opulent and juicy, with black plums, laced with ground baking spices, evolving into a soft black cocoa, chocolate character finish.

Viticulture

2021 was a challenging year mainly due to lower-than-average winter rainfall, resulting in restrained growth and vigour in some blocks but not others. Restrained growth naturally created layers and complexity in this fantastic Merlot. Harvested on 15th September 2021.

Vinification

21 days on skins with twice daily pump overs. Once pressed off skins, the wine moved to barrel and gracefully aged in an extensive cave system for 14 months. Aged 14 months in 100% French Oak (30% is New)
