Dornfelder – cross of Helfensteiner x Heroldrebe, 1955. Most popular German red wine grape. Cherry red color, aromatic scent of red fruits, well balanced character, juicy and soft, sweet finish.


Viticulture

Loam and clay. Vineyards on top of the hills. Heavy soil with excellent absorptive capacity for rain water. Hilly vineyard area, mostly loam soil. Natural cultivation; limited yields through reduced pruning; limited use of fertilizers and chemicals.


Vinification

Heat maceration. Filtration prior to fermentation. Fermentation in stainless steel. One filtration prior to bottling. Ageing in stainless steel.


Recommendation

Enjoy it slightly chilled with chips, cheese or as a companion of your main course of pasta or meat.
