2020 Flavia Wines Vino Rosso Nero D’Avola DOP Sicilia 'CICCIO'

Flavia Wines

Marsala, Sicily

Nero d'Avola is undoubtedly the Sicilian indigenous grape par excellence which manifests a certain territoriality in the organoleptic properties of its wines. Wines produced with the Nero d'Avola vine have good acidity which generates a good predisposition to aging, especially if they come from grapes grown with the sapling system. The wines of the Nero d'Avola grape have a strong character with a very elegant style. On the nose, they have notes ranging from floral violet to fruity black cherry, to spices in the versions with longer aging.

Viticulture

These wines, with their lively freshness, are born from the historic vineyards owned by the Rallo family since 1860. We are located between Contrada Birgi and Paolini, a stone's throw from the Stagnone Reserve and the historic Marsala Salt Pans. The presence of the sea contributes to the constitution of soils rich in minerals and with high sapidity, characteristics that give life to unique wines with Sicilian flavours and aromas.

The presence of the sea contributes to the constitution of soils rich in minerals that give life to unique wines with Sicilian flavours and aromas. They are sandy soils in which the important presence of limestone influences the organoleptic characteristics of the grapes. The typically warm, sunny and breezy climate is quite favourable for the cultivation of vines. The winter rains and the temperature variations of the summer nights allow the grapes to ripen optimally. These conditions prove to be decisive for defining the high sensory expression of production.

The Ribelli di Marsala wines are endowed with great pleasantness and drinkability, which are manifested through tickling freshness, a rainbow of floral aromas and the flavour that the sea breezes give to the grapes.
