2020 Casa Silva 1912 Vines Romano Cesar Noir

Casa Silva

Colchagua Valley

The Casa Silva 1912 Vines Romano Cesar Noir is an intense ruby-colored wine with aromas of red fruits, like strawberry and cherry, and hints of earthy and wild notes. On the palate, it has a firm structure with powerful, unctuous tannins, good acidity, and flavors of fig, coffee bean, and ripe fruit, all leading to a dry, mouth-coating finish.

Viticulture

The viticulture for Casa Silva's Romano Cesar Noir involves harvesting from the historic Angostura vineyard, planted in 1912, in the Colchagua Valley. The climate is Mediterranean with dry, warm summers, allowing for concentrated sugar and color in the grapes.

Vinification

The vinification of Casa Silva 1912 Vines Romano Cesar Noir includes hand harvesting and manual grape selection, followed by a cold soak and cold fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then aged for 6 to 8 months, with 50% in second-use French oak barrels and 50% in stainless steel, before a final 2 to 3-month bottle aging period.
