2019 Philip Shaw The Wirewalker Pinot Noir

The Wire Walker masters the skill of balance. Each year we walk the wire with our Pinot Noir. Knowing how to respond to the elements and when to make that next step.

The Wire Walker is garnet red in colour. Perfumed and fragrant. This wine displays a generosity of ripe berry fruits complimented by savoury spice. The palate is generous offering sumptuous fruit framed by elegant supple tannins. Pinot Noir is still a relatively new variety for the Orange region, but it is showing excellent promise in this cool, mountainous, continental climate.

Vinification

Approximately 15% of selected parcels kept to ferment. Remainder of the grapes were destemmed sorted and placed in close fermenters. Wild yeast carried out the primary ferment. Monitored and tasted daily. Extended maceration for greater depth. Pressed, and racked to oak.
