Slightly smoky notes, clean with lots of ripe fruit. Wonderfully haunting, with good structure and soft tannins.

Viticulture

The selected vineyards for our Stodden Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir "J" and Pinot Noir "JS" are steep and hillside locations. The orientation of the locations is south and south-east. The soils are a mixture of sand and loam, sometimes with a very high proportion of stone. The wines are pure Pinot Noir, but a blend from our locations in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Dernau and Rech.

Vinification

The hand-picked grapes are strictly selected in the vineyard and in the winery on the sorting belt and fermented on the mash under temperature control for 14 days, without stalks. In the 16-month expansion and storage in barriques, the malolactic fermentation takes place.

Recommendation

Terrific with roasted duck in a dark cherry sauce, or delicious with a creamy wild mushroom risotto.
