Add to my wine list2018 Jean Stodden Recher Herrenberg Spätburgunder
Jean Stodden, Das Rotweingut
Ahr
Clear fruit with herbaceous aromas, slight minerality due to the slate soil.
Viticulture
The name Herrenberg refers to the Lords of Saffenburg, who owned the village of Rech and who planted their vineyards in this prime location.
The vineyard lies below the rocky part of the Schwedenkopf. The southern part of the site, opposite the Saffenburg ruins, is terraced. With its weathered slate soil made of greywacke, the steep slope facing south, with a slope of up to 60%, offers excellent conditions for optimal use of solar energy.
Vinification
The hand-picked, strictly selected grapes are temperature-controlled for 18 days, fermented on the mash without stalks. Malolactic fermentation takes place during storage (17 months) in new and used barriques.
Not filtered, we recommend decanting.
