2016 Viña Palaciega Reserva

Viña Palaciega

Rioja

It has a very bright ruby red colour. Great richness of aromas that give the wine harmony and finesse. Full, silky and balanced flavour with a great persistence in the mouth.

Viticulture

The vineyards are located between 300-600m above sea level. With controlled production to obtain low yields that allow us to harvest grapes with great aromatic potential and produce wines with good structure.

Although Rioja is a small region, it has very varied soils with balanced structure. They are composed of sans, silts, clays and pebbles. With low content of organic matter, low nutritional elements and low water availability during the summer. All of this provides ideal conditions for excellent growing and production of quality wines.

Vinification

Very selected grapes which are destemmed and partially crushed with a high proportion of whole berries. They are macerated for 10-15days with daily pump overs. Controlled fermentation took place between 24-28ºC.

The wine was then aged for 2 years in American oak barrels which gives it complexity and spicy tones. After this it remained in the bottle allowing the wine to acquire stability and complexity.

Recommendation

Ideal with all kinds of red meats, lamb and game. Perfect for drinking now. It will develop very well in the bottle over the next 2-3 years. It should be kept in a cool, dark place. Serve at a temperature of 16-18ºC.
