Quinta do Portal Colheita Branco 6x75cl

"The 2019 Branco, the regular "Colheita," as the Portuguese call it (meaning a non-reserve vintage-dated wine), is a blend of 55% Viosinho, 20% Malvasia Fina, 20% Gouveio and a dollop of Rabigato for the rest, all unoaked, bone dry and coming in at 13.2% alcohol. Solid, stern and tight on the finish, this might also have a slight reductive nuance. It is, though, impressive for the regular Colheita, a wine that is beautifully structured and bound to improve. There is a touch of austerity, but the fruit shines through. It will drink well this summer, perhaps better next summer. It should hold well for several years, perhaps longer than indicated."

Quinta do Portal Moscatel Galego 6x75cl
90 Points - The Wine Advocate, Mark Squires

"The 2019 Moscatel Galego is unoaked, bone dry and comes in at 13.1% alcohol. Showing notable tension on the finish, this has big hits of acidity to go with the pungent aromatics this grape normally produces. Powerful and intense, this grips the palate and doesn't let go so easily in this wine's youth. The depth is good, but the aromatics add the personality this wine needs. Otherwise, it might be a bit stern and brooding this year. This is fun now, but if you try it in the spring or summer of 2021, it will probably be better. It will certainly be a great wine for warm weather this year or next. It should then hold well for a few years more, at least, perhaps even better than suggested. It is the type of wine you'll want to drink fairly fresh, though—exuberance is a big part of what it is all about, despite the excellent structure." View Here

Quinta do Portal Colheita Rosé 6x75cl
90 Points - The Wine Advocate, Mark Squires

"The 2019 Rosé, in bottle for about four months when tasted, is an equal blend of Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional, very dry (less than a gram of residual sugar) and coming in at 13.3% alcohol. Portal is become a consistently good producer of rosé, and this has been a consistent value. Portal has been up to the challenge. I'm never quite certain how well they will age, and this is not profound, to be sure, but that's hardly the point with pinks, right? Solid in the mid-palate, this has fine acidity, a fresh finish and good flavor, too, but always in a dry and controlled fashion. It's never sweet or jammy. It has the stuffing for food and the freshness to drink all by itself on a warm day. This seems like a fine example of this brand, particularly now, in its pristine youth. Wines like this have a ceiling, but at least now it is worth leaning up again."

Quinta do Portal Reserva Red 6x75cl

"The 2017 Reserva is a roughly equal blend of Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz plus 15% Touriga Franca, aged for nine months in an equal mixture of new and used French oak. It comes in at 14.7% alcohol. Deep and rather intense in its youth, this Reserva from this big vintage has plenty of everything. It is a little disjointed just now and needs a year (or a couple) in the cellar to come together. It did start to come around with 90 minutes of air, though. It has fine depth, a real backbone and the fruit to soak up the power. This sexy yet burly Reserva looks like a winner, but have a little patience—you won't need a lot, but a little is necessary. It should age well, maybe better than indicated. It should improve in the cellar, not just hold. Its peak might be more around 2024-2027. This might well be one of the best Reservas Portal has made. It's worth leaning up on it today. It is well priced too."
