Dom Richard Rottiers 2023 Moulin-à-Vent - Red - 16/20
Despite the richness of fruit on the mid palate – a hallmark of the 2023 vintage – there's plenty of vibrant crunch and freshness. Lively and focused. (NH)
Drink: 2026 – 2032
Dom Richard Rottiers, Mortperay 2023 Moulin-à-Vent - Red - 16.5/20
There's a distinctly savoury quality to this cuvée, with notes of bay leaves and dried herbs lending a bit of an edge to an opulent palate of ripe red-berry fruit. The tannins are dense and plush. Perhaps just lacking a bit of weight on the mid palate. (NH)
Drink: 2026 – 2032
Dom Richard Rottiers, Champ de Cour 2023 Moulin-à-Vent - Red - 16.5/20
A very fine, elegant wine that shows great typicality in its nervy tension. There’s some juicy red-cherry and anise-tinged fruit, as well as a pleasing kick of freshness on the finish. (NH)
Drink: 2026 – 2035
Dom Richard Rottiers, Les Thorins 2023 Moulin-à-Vent - Red - 17+/20
The tightly wound, gently grippy tannins are going to take a bit of a while to unwind and reveal the full beauty of the layered palate. Raspberries and brambles are nuanced by notes of orange zest and bay leaves, and a smoky, flinty minerality is revealed on the long finish. (NH)
Drink: 2028 – 2038
Dom Richard Rottiers, Dernier Souffle 2023 Moulin-à-Vent - Red - 16.5/20
There’s a dark humour to the name of this cuvée (meaning ‘last breath’), sourced from a parcel situated just beside a cemetery.
There’s plenty of life in the vibrant palate, though, and oodles of juicy dark-cherry and bramble fruit, along with gently rasping tannins. (NH)
Drink: 2027 – 2034
